On January 29 at 3:17 am, police responded to a local apartment complex in reference to a reported vehicle break-in and that two suspects had fled on foot. Officers began a search for the suspects immediately upon arrival. One suspect was located nearby in tall grass by an Arkansas State Police Trooper. The suspect was in possession of some items reported stolen. He was placed under arrest. The second suspect was not located.

The investigation revealed that three vehicles had been entered and items were stolen from two.  Some of the items reported stolen include light bulbs, a bottle of medication, CDs, and a radar detector. Police learned the suspects were in Mountain Home to find a party. After not finding a party, they needed money or something to sell for gasoline so they could drive to Salem. The second suspect is being sought in connection with the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect arrested at the scene, Robert L. Vargason, 21 of Horseshoe Bend, was charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering, class D felony, and two counts of Theft of Property, class A misdemeanor. He was incarcerated into the Baxter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
